Middlesbrough Apple Regional Training Centre, at North Ormesby Academy, offers educators the opportunity to learn how Apple technology can make a difference to teaching and learning in the classroom. We will be offering 8 free training courses over the year, all delivered by an Apple Distinguished Educator. Please browse through and sign up today!

Apple Regional Training Centres deliver courses to build the skills and confidence of educators to use Apple technology inside and outside the classroom. They are a community who share best practices and inspire excellence through teaching with Apple technology.

Being selected as an Apple Regional Training Centre highlights our commitment to facilitating training for teachers to develop skills and build confidence to use Apple technology in the classroom.

Apple Regional Training Centres create a community to share best practice and support teaching staff to attain Apple Teacher status, a professional learning programme designed to support and celebrate educators.

Teachers from across the region can attend courses to build their knowledge and skills using technology in the classroom and earn badges to achieve their Apple Teacher recognition.

Across the UK and Ireland, the goals of all Apple Regional Training Centres are to:

  • facilitate training opportunities for teachers to develop skills using Apple technology in the classroom
  • promote Apple in Education and share new products and innovations with educators
  • build Apple Teacher across the region
  • share best practices, build community and inspire excellence.

Introduction to iPad
Thursday 5th October 2017, 4:00pm-5:30pm

Experience how iPad can open up new, engaging ways of teaching and learning. During this session, you’ll learn how to get started with iPad, work with iPad, explore learning resources and even have the opportunity to earn some Apple Teacher badges.


Using iPad to inspire creative writing
Thursday 23rd November 2017, 4:00pm-5:30pm

The best writing happens when students are engaged and interested in the topic. This session will look at a range of apps and approaches using iPad to help take your learners’ writing to the next level, including green-screening, using fantasy environments and producing digital books.


Enhancing productivity with iPad
Thursday 18th January 2018, 4:00pm-5:30pm

Learn how iPad can help students’ learning go deeper through getting organised, planning and sharing their work and documenting and reflecting. In this twilight session, develop the skills needed to deliver powerful learning experiences with iPad in the classroom


Everyday maths with iPad
Thursday 8th February 2018, 4:00pm-5:30pm

Join us for this twilight session where we will look at ways to help your children deepen conceptual understanding and procedural fluency in maths using iPad. Discover a variety of apps and approaches that can help your students 'master' mathematics.

Fostering creativity with iPad
Thursday 22nd March 2018, 4:00pm-5:30pm

Learn how to use multiple Apple apps in a connected workflow. Apply the creative process to your lessons to help your learners develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Help generate innovative ideas, inspire and bring compelling stories to life and earn your Apple Teacher badges at the same time.

Digital assessment with iPad

Learn how to use a variety of apps to help assess pupil's learning in a range of innovative ways. We'll take a look at assessment opportunities, applications and methodologies that can be applied in different ways across a range of curriculum areas.


Coding with Swift Playgrounds

This twilight session will look at how using iPad can help students develop the essential learning skills of problem solving and computational thinking through coding. Experience the revolutionary Swift Playgrounds app that gives everyone the opportunity to learn how to code.

Digital Citizenship Showcase

An afternoon dedicated to bringing all aspects of learning through technology together, showcasing best practice and inclusive of a variety of guest speakers and affiliate partners. See how we build ‘digital citizenship’ into every day school life and meet our team of ‘Digital Ambassadors’.
